SN 214 - Contemporary Latin America through Film [INTT] [GCIT] Offered Fall: No Offered Winter: No Offered Summer: No Offered Other: Contact Department 3 Credits Hours (Lecture - Discussion - Lab): 3-0-0 General Education: Global Citizenship Graduation Requirement [GCIT] In its “creative treatment of actuality” (Grieson), film selects, imagines, and reconsiders stories to bring to light concerns about racial tensions, ethnicity, environmental problems, memory, identity, and gender and class divisions. This course offers, through the study of a selection of Latin American films from 2000 to the present, a multidisciplinary perspective of the social histories and contemporary lives of a diverse range of Latin American populations.
