The Early Childhood General and Special Education - BK (ZN) is an initial teaching certificate. The ZN certifies one to teach in an early childhood general or special education classroom serving children from birth through kindergarten, a private or public kindergarten, or in a Great Start to Readiness Program (GSRP).
Certificate Requirements:
- Completion of the 30 credits of coursework applicable to the ZN
- Completion of a 240 hour early childhood special education internship, completed over 8 weeks, with 30 hours per week. Internships may be completed in one’s own classroom if there is at least one child on an IEP or IFSP.
- Passing score on the Michigan test for teacher certification (MTTC) in the area of early childhood general and special education (ZN) test No. 134. Registration materials available on the MTTC website.
- Apply to the Michigan Online Educator Certification System (MOECS) for the ZN Teacher Certification.
