WD 270 - Weld Testing and Certification

Prerequisites: WD 140 and WD 180 or instructor permission.

Students will demonstrate the ability to produce visually acceptable welds per AWS D1.1 on groove joints in multiple positions on multi-thickness materials. Emphasis on complete joint penetration, single vee groove joints in the horizontal, vertical-up, overhead positions with the SMAW and GS-FCAW process. Students have the opportunity to take structural plate qualification tests on carbon steel.
