EL 042 - Instruments II Offered Fall: Yes Offered Winter: No Offered Summer: No Offered Other: No 2 Credits Hours (Lecture - Discussion - Lab): 1-0-4 Prerequisites: EL 041 or concurrent enrollment in EL 041 .
This course provides students with the technical skills necessary for operating utility vehicles, using electrical measuring instruments, and performing electric utility installation and repair. Emphasis is placed on calculating and analyzing sling load angles, measuring elevations, interpreting blueprints, and preparing essential equipment such as transformers, utility poles, and lifting chains. Hands-on training includes operating bucket trucks and digger/derrick trucks with trailers, installing security lighting, and utilizing industry-specific tools to ensure safe and efficient power line installation.
