Electrical Line Technician Certificate


The Electrical Line Technician Program prepares students to install, maintain, and operate electrical systems that supply electric energy to residential, commercial, and industrial facilities. In addition to learning pole climbing techniques, electrical theory, equipment operation, hoisting techniques, job safety skills, and pole installation and construction, students will earn a Class A Commercial Driver’s License, which is critical to becoming a professional electrical line technician.

Please note that in addition to the course requirements listed below, Electrical Line Technology student must also meet the following graduation requirement:

Before graduation, ELT students must earn a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) from an accredited driving school. Students who do not already have a CDL may earn it through NMU’s Department of Continuing Education and Workforce Development.
