Music Major

This major provides a general education in music.
All music curriculum core courses must be passed with a grade of “C” or higher. A student can have no more than five repeats of “failed” courses in the music major or minor. A minimum grade point average of 2.70 is required for all major degree programs (bachelor of science, bachelor of arts and bachelor of music education).

Two credits must be upper division performance, theory, or history.
Additional Degree Requirements
*Music majors must attend weekly departmental events held on Fridays at 1 p.m. and attend a specified number of concerts each semester. All attendance is administered through mandatory enrollment in MU 001, a zero-credit course. Details are found in the Student Music Major Handbook.
Piano majors who elect the choral specialization must take MU 170 Class Voice or performance lessons for a minimum of one semester.
