HS 308 - Themes in Modern Europe Offered Fall: No Offered Winter: No Offered Summer: No Offered Other: Contact Department 4 Credits Hours (Lecture - Discussion - Lab): 4-0-0 Prerequisites: Completion of a 100- or 200- level history course.
The course provides in-depth study both in terms of content and historiography of some of the main themes in modern European history, 1815 to the present. Topics may include industrialization and its consequences, the creation of the modern nation state, the new imperialism, the road to war, the age of total war, and postwar Europe. The topic and the approach will vary according to the instuctor.
