General Education: Scientific Inquiry (SCII) and Laboratory Science University Requirement (LAB)
Prerequisites: Math placement score recommendation of MA 111 or grade of “C-” in MA 100 and one year of high school chemistry.

Topics include the study of atomic structure, reactions in solution, stoichiometry, properties of gasses, thermochemistry, theories of bonding, periodic properties, and molecular geometry. Other topics may include polymer chemistry. Emphasis is placed on algebraic calculations and problem-solving skills. Principles of green chemistry will be introduced.
