AN 220 - Introduction to Linguistic Anthropology

This course is an introduction to the field of linguistic anthropology and focuses on the relationship between language and culture through the theoretical lenses of socio-linguistics and ethnography of communication.  In examining the interplay between language and culture we will analyze concepts such as language ideology, language socialization, systems of power and inequality, discourse, and performance.
